Although the Supermoto-style Dorsoduro 900 and game standard Shiver 900 disagree on design and assignment, they share much in common. Both are powered by a bigger, 896cc (upwards from 750cc) liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin with DOHC and 4 valves per cylinder, which has a longer stroke (67.4mm, up from 56.4mm) but preserves the identical 92mm bore since the 750. Claimed output has climbed to 95.2 horsepower at 8,750 RPM and 66.4 lb-ft of torque at 6,500 RPM, using a wide, horizontal spread of torque. A brand new internal lubrication circuit restricts power loss because of churning and petroleum intake, along with the exhaust system, fitted with a dual oxygen detector, meets Euro 4 standards. Electricity is sent to the trunk via a 6-speed transmission, a hydraulically actuated wet, multi-plate clutch and chain final drive.
A new, stronger Marelli 7SM ECU communicates using an upgraded, 1.2-pounds-lighter throttle-by-wire system, which provides Sport, Touring and Rain engine channels. Also new are 3-level grip management, Continental two-channel switchable ABS and full-color TFT instrumentation.

The chassis is made up of an upper tubular-steel trellis segment and reduced aluminum lateral plates. A brand new Kayaba upside down fork, which will be 1 pound lighter than its predecessor and can be adjustable for spring preload and rebound damping, joins to the framework through forged aluminum steering yoke plates. The rear shock is adjustable for spring preload only. Front/rear suspension travel is 6.3 inches around the Dorsoduro and 4.6/4.2 inches around the Shiver. Slowing both bicycles are a set of interlocking 4-piston front calipers squeezing 320mm discs plus also a single-piston back caliper squeezing a 240mm disc. New three-split-spoke, cast aluminum wheels are 4.4 pounds lighter than the preceding wheels.
Befitting its Supermoto assignment, the Dorsoduro includes a tall, 34.2-inch seat height and a little, 3.17-gallon gas tank. The wheelbase is 59 inches, and the steering geometry unites 26 degrees of rake with 4.2 inches of course. No word on curb weight, however we anticipate it to be milder than the Dorsoduro 750, which weighed against 454 lbs.

As a sport standard, the Shiver includes a lower, 31.9-inch seat height and a larger, 3.96-gallon gas tank. Additionally, it has a shorter 56.7-inch wheelbase, but similar steering geometry (25.9 degrees of rake, 4.3 inches of trail). Much like the Dorsoduro, maintained curb weight is not yet available, but it needs to be lighter than the 2016 model, which weighed 490 pounds.
